Review: Barrett King / SĒN Baltimore Magazine

SENYou’re Dead To Me, I Love You (Atomic Twang) is the latest from Baltimore’s own Pulaski, a wry and self-effacing quintet of local vets. Dead To Me was a long time in the making, the band’s third since their formation in 1999. Full of syrupy bass lines and indie rock chops not done this refreshingly since 1997, the harmonies are wholesome, the drums are clanging, and the songs are plain good.”Why Are You Doing This To Me?” has a climbing riff that is flavored with piquant lyrics. An overall pogo-rocker causes a double-take next to a poppier, drum-pad flecked “Don’t Fade On Me”. Download this one and hear for yourself. Dual guitars on “You Can Never Win” are like Weezer with brass knuckles and a grudge, and twangy string bends and slides on “Sushi Waitress” spin Wilco on their collective heads with pure fun and a reckless disregard for taking one’s self seriously.”
